Your brain works differently. That's not a flaw.
ADHD is real, common, and treatable at any age. Dr. Pierre-Louis provides comprehensive ADHD evaluation and management for children, teens, and adults.
What is ADHD?
Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects how the brain regulates attention, impulse control, and activity level. Despite its name, ADHD is not simply about being "hyper" or "distracted" — it's a complex neurological pattern that affects people differently across different contexts and life stages.
ADHD affects approximately 10% of children and 4–5% of adults in the United States. Many adults were never diagnosed in childhood — especially women and girls, who often present with predominantly inattentive ADHD rather than hyperactivity, and who have historically been underdiagnosed.
At Divine Soul, we evaluate and treat ADHD across the lifespan — from age 6 through adulthood — with a thorough, comprehensive approach that goes beyond a simple symptom checklist.
Common symptoms of ADHD
ADHD presents differently in children, teens, and adults. These are the most common signs across age groups.
- Difficulty sustaining attention on tasks or activities
- Frequently losing items, missing details, or forgetting appointments
- Easily distracted by external stimuli or unrelated thoughts
- Difficulty following through on tasks or instructions
- Fidgeting, restlessness, or difficulty staying seated
- Talking excessively or interrupting others
- Acting impulsively without thinking through consequences
- Difficulty managing time, prioritizing, or organizing tasks
How Dr. Pierre-Louis evaluates and treats ADHD
ADHD evaluation at Divine Soul is thorough. Dr. Pierre-Louis conducts a comprehensive clinical interview covering developmental history, current symptoms across multiple settings, academic or work history, family history, and any co-occurring conditions such as anxiety, depression, or learning disabilities — all of which are common alongside ADHD.
Treatment is highly individualized. Stimulant medications (when appropriate) are often the most effective first-line treatment, but non-stimulant options, behavioral strategies, and psychoeducation all play important roles. For children, Dr. Pierre-Louis works collaboratively with parents and, when helpful, school teams.
