Anxiety

You don't have to live in fear

Anxiety is real, treatable, and nothing to be ashamed of. Dr. Pierre-Louis has helped hundreds of patients find relief — and you can too.

Understanding anxiety

What is anxiety?

Anxiety is more than everyday worry or stress. It's a persistent, often overwhelming sense of fear, dread, or unease that can interfere with every part of your life — your relationships, your work, your ability to rest, and your sense of self.

Anxiety disorders are the most common mental health conditions in the United States, affecting over 40 million adults. Yet less than 40% of those who suffer from anxiety ever receive treatment. At Divine Soul, we believe that number is far too low.

Anxiety can take many forms: generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), panic disorder, social anxiety disorder, specific phobias, separation anxiety, and more. Regardless of the form it takes, effective help is available.

  • Restlessness, feeling on edge, or unable to relax

  • Muscle tension, headaches, or stomach issues
  • Panic attacks: sudden intense fear with physical symptoms
Our approach

How Dr. Pierre-Louis treats anxiety

Dr. Pierre-Louis takes a whole-person approach to anxiety treatment. She begins with a comprehensive evaluation to understand the type, severity, and root causes of your anxiety — including any underlying medical conditions, life stressors, or trauma history that may be contributing.

Treatment is personalized. For some patients, therapy-based approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) provide powerful tools to restructure anxious thinking patterns. For others, medication — carefully selected and monitored — can significantly reduce the physiological symptoms of anxiety. Many patients benefit most from a combination of both.

FAQ

Common questions about anxiety treatment

Yes. Many patients manage anxiety effectively through therapy alone, especially CBT. However, for moderate to severe anxiety, medication can significantly improve quality of life and help you engage better in therapy. Dr. Pierre-Louis will discuss all options with you and let you lead the conversation about what feels right.
It varies by person and condition. Many patients notice improvement within 4–8 weeks of starting treatment. CBT typically runs 12–20 sessions. Medication timelines vary based on the specific medication and individual response. We'll set realistic expectations at your first appointment so you know what to look for.
Sometimes, yes — especially at the start of therapy when you're confronting avoided situations. This is normal and expected as part of the process. Dr. Pierre-Louis will guide you through this carefully and will never ask you to move faster than you're ready to go.
